Conference speakers include President and CEO, Alex Sun and an array of industry thought leaders who will share meaningful and timely industry insights, and will give you first-look access to innovations, announcements and awards. Expert Sessions will include live content on market trends, current landscape and future trends, as well as case studies and downloadable content that will be beneficial long after the conference. The conference will kick off with a General Session at 10:00 am Pacific Time on Tuesday, October 12, followed immediately by live Expert Session content. Additional live Expert Session content will be available on Wednesday, October 13 and Thursday, October 14 starting promptly at 10:00 am Pacific Time each day. On Demand access to all sessions will become available shortly following the live conference. Plugged-In: EV Collision Insights Q2 2026

Among repairable claims, the gap in average severity between battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and gasoline-powered automobiles narrowed to a record low, although BEVs remain more costly to repair. In the United States, average severity was $5,684 for BEVs compared to $5,022 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), $5,033 for mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs) and $4,955 for vehicles with an internal combustion engine (ICE). A similar trend emerged in Canada with severity of $6,645 (CAD) for BEVs, $6,227 (CAD) for PHEVs, $6,080 (CAD) for MHEVs and $5,411 (CAD) for ICE automobiles.

Claims Severity Gap Between Repairable BEVs and ICE Vehicles Hits Record Low

Mitchell today released its latest Plugged-In: EV Collision Insights report. This quarter’s report reveals that the gap in average claims severity between repairable battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) automobiles has reached its lowest level on record in both the U.S. and Canada. With a gap of just $729 in the U.S. last quarter, average repairable severity for BEVs was $5,684 compared to $4,955 for ICE alternatives.
