Shop Tip of the Week: Print a PDF Copy of an Estimate

According to the 2014 J.D. Power Auto Claims Satisfaction Study, “courtesy of repair facility employee” was one of the top 3 drivers of customer satisfaction for collision repair shops. Providing an exceptional customer experience comes in many forms. One of the easiest, but often overlooked, ways to do this is to explain to the customer how you repaired their car. Just print out a PDF copy of their estimate and show them the details on their car in relation to the estimate.

To learn how to do this in Mitchell Estimating, follow the steps below.

How-To: Print a PDF Copy of an Estimate 


First, set Mitchell Estimating up to create a PDF copy of estimates that are created:
  1. System info > preferences > file locations > click enable "Enable Copy PDF Print Image"
  2. Verify the file location where you want to save the PDF (C:\MITCHELL\ACES\IMAGECOPY)
  3. Click "OK" when finished
  4. Print a PDF Copy of an Estimate

  5. If prompted to create the directory C:\MITCHELL\ACES\IMAGECOPY, click "Yes"
  6. Press "OK" again to exit the Preferences screen
  7. Print a PDF Copy of an Estimate

    Next, make it easy to access the PDF folder:
  8. In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Mitchell\Aces\IMAGECOPY.
  9. Print a PDF Copy of an Estimate

  10. Right click on the Image Copy folder and click "Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut)"
  11. Now, whenever you want to email an estimate: 
  12. Select "Print Estimate" and select the "Create PDF Image" option in the print settings dialogue.
  13. Click on the "Image Copy" shortcut on your desktop to find the pdf and copy it into the email prepared using your preferred email application.
