Elias Olmeta named CFO of the Year, recognized for outstanding financial leadership
SAN DIEGO, CA – April 5, 2017 – Mitchell International, a leading provider of technology, connectivity and information solutions to the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance and collision repair industry, today announced that Elias Olmeta, EVP and CFO at Mitchell International, was named San Diego Business Journal’s CFO of the Year in the Large Privately Held Company category. Olmeta was honored in a ceremony held at Paradise Point Resort & Spa on March 16.
Now in its 11th year, the CFO of the Year Awards recognizes San Diego financial professionals for their contributions to company growth, leadership and community involvement. A panel of independent judges, drawn from the region’s top financial leaders, selected this year’s top CFOs based on their ability to overcome unique challenges and demonstrated success.
Since joining the company two years ago, Olmeta has challenged the status quo and made Mitchell smarter about the way it works. Most notably, his fiscal leadership led to a $3 million savings through identifying operational efficiencies. On top of that, Mitchell was able to raise the funds required to continue investing in acquisitions and partnerships, leading to expansion in key markets and three completed acquisitions in 2016 that resulted in 10 percent revenue growth.
“From day one Elias has been an incredible asset to our leadership team, providing excellent guidance and leadership toward any challenge thrown his way,” said Alex Sun, President and CEO at Mitchell International. “I’m extremely proud of Elias for receiving this award and excited that the value he brings to our organization is being recognized within our larger community.”
In addition to focusing on the company’s financial success, Olmeta has also significantly advanced the organization by building a culture of continuous improvement. He encourages all employees to step out of their comfort zones, exposes them to new experiences and roles and encourages staff to take control of their own development. To this end, Olmeta collaborates with HR to create frameworks to help employees succeed and has developed a systematic way of succession planning that has become a model used by the rest of the company.
Outside of his day-to-day role, Olmeta is dedicated to the community and serves as an executive sponsor of Mitchell’s (m)Body Wellness Program, which promotes employee physical, mental and financial health, often with activities involving the community such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
